First let me say that I think that the Assembly has done an
excellent job. I have read your statements, many submissions on
your website, and other articles related to your work, both pro and
con. Even before your process started I was convinced that there is
something fundamentally wrong with our current system. I strongly
believe we need to change. Change is never an easy thing especially
for people who benefit from the current system.
If I were voting today I would vote for the MMP system because
it seems like the best compromise. Every system has its
disadvantages and with the MMP system I would be most concerned
with the threshold percentage a party needs to win seats. If we
were to be more cautions at first, we should consider going with
the higher percentage of the usual range, that is, 5%.
